Sami's Happy Tail....Samantha came into our lives in December. We have found all of our pets either from the animal shelters or rescue leagues. We had just the previous October lost our much-beloved Tigger to lymphosarcoma. We had to go up to Eugene see Dr. Donna Deminske for his treatment, but, in the end, his liver failed and he passed on. We both were just heartbroken and after about a month Nancy told me she just had such a void in her life and I agreed to find someone to fill that loss we had. Filling the void after losing Tigger
Taking care of Sami We brought Sami home on Saturday and on Monday she had complete examination. On Tuesday she had oral surgery. I then made an appointment in Eugene with a opthamologist and had her look at Sami's eyes as the appointment that the rescue had set up with Dr. Susan Kirschner was not to take place until January. The doctor in Eugene said a cataract operation was not going to be successful, and we should just let nature take its course and let her go blind. Even with surgery, there was only 10% chance of saving her eyesight. Driving home, I got mad as I knew the doctor did not really examine Sami. All she did was just look at her eyes and I had been on the Internet to learn all I could about cataracts in dogs. I came home and talked to Dr. Mary Herrea and her husband who is also an excellent doctor and told them what Sami and I had gone through in Eugene. I told them I still had that appointment in Portland with Dr. Kirschner and we were going to keep it. Well what a difference in the eye examination we got in Portland! From the first, I knew this lady knew what she was doing, and I had to ask her where she got her degree. I had complete faith in her and her staff and I can not say enough about the excellant treatment Sami got under Dr. Kirschner's care. I highly recommend her and this facility. Sami takes care of us and we take care of her Fast forward to April and Sami is doing wonderfully. She and I go everywhere together, she has excellent eyesight and is just a completely beautiful little girl. She is taking care of us and we take care of her. She has joined our family and is loved by one and all. She really likes one little granddaughter very much. I want to thank Dr. Susan Krischner and her staff and Dr. Mary Herrera and her staff and husband for all of their help in making Sami's life better and healthier. If you have compassion for your children, then it should be the same as for your pet. You should give the same time and care to both. If you cannot give both, forego having the pet and take care of your children. There are some people in this world who should never own a pet. Whoever owned Sami before us is one who should never own a pet because she was neglected badly. The best years are ahead of us Sami is 7 1/2 years old and Nancy and I are going to give this little bundle of joy to us, the best years are yet to come for her. Nancy and I want to thank everyone with you and your friends in helping to save a little life named Samantha. Sincerely, Don and Nancy Davenport Why not give a Schnauzer a forever home today? |
